This is a bronze statue of Lewis & Clark and their dog, Seaman, a Newfoundland that Lewis bought in Philadelphia for twenty bucks. Seaman did good work for the expedition catching squirrels for dinner and guarding against marauding buffalo and inquisitive bears attracted to the camp at night. Lewis was much impressed by Seaman's "sagacity."
