The Petersen Boarding House, across the street from Ford's Theater. They carried Lincoln here and laid him in the back bedroom, where he died. The bedroom in which he died had often been rented by his assassin, John Wilkes Boothe, when he was working at the theater. Lincoln died in a bed in which Boothe had sometimes slept.

Boothe was considered the handsomest man in America, at least by the newspapers of the day. They say maids would make and remake his bed just to touch the sheets he slept on.

Boothe's fellow conspirators intended to kill the Vice President and Secretary of State while Boothe killed the president. It's interesting to note that the military has never attempted to overthrow the government or decapitate its leadership, but an actor has. Something to think about. What's the difference between Boothe's talk of killing Republican leaders and Alec Baldwin's talk of killing Republican leaders? Discuss among yourselves.
