It's such a pretty little thing it's almost a shame to shoot it down.

That's an example of an Atoll missile next to it, which is the Soviet's knockoff of our Sidewinder heater missile. The museum says the Soviets got a Sidewinder from Red China after clashes with Nationalist Chinese pilots. The story I heard was that some Air Force sergeant loaded one in the back of his VW Beetle and drove through the Berlin Wall to deliver it to communist East Germany.

This particular MiG was obtained by the Air Force by methods unknown. My guess is that either somebody defected in it or we bought it from some unscrupulous Third World country for big bucks.
