Plane-spotting is a pastime at SWA. The bulk of the SWA fleet of 393 Boeing 737s (they had about 230 when I left five years ago) is painted in this red, brown, and orange scheme. It's very '70s. They painted a couple as Orcas, which cost about a quarter million bucks apiece. You might spot one every few weeks. We all liked the Texas flag jets. SWA bought a Simpson's jet from an airline that shows Homer and Bart and Marge on the side. It's pretty amusing to see, though rarely seen.
My favorite was not a SWA jet, but a 737 sent in for maintenance at SWA by a little airline out west that flew people to Vegas. There is a big showgirl reclining with her legs down the fuselage and her body taking up the tail. I loved the Showgirl jet. There should be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader jet. Maybe a fleet of them.
