Sandi and I met Lynda, Mike, and David in downtown Fort Worth (or "Foat Wuth" as the locals say) for dinner. Fort Worth's resident billionaires, the Bass Brothers, have made downtown Fort Worth their little project, making it a wonderful place to visit with restaurants, movies, book stores, bars, and an opera house.

The Bass Brothers also drove the improvement of the freeways around Fort Worth, which is the only town I've been where the freeways were expanded BEFORE they got jammed up. The Bass Brothers planned ahead when the city did not and improved the roads before they turned into parking lots like over in Dallas, where the city council spent all its time squabbling and dragging its feet. The government just does not plan ahead well. Here in DC, the traffic is a nightmare because the government built only a fraction of the highway network they knew was needed. If only the Bass Brothers lived in DC.
