Then I saw a can come flying high over the fence headed for a knot of cops talking. It seemed sure to hit one but miraculously missed. It could have done some real damage. The protestors were escalating the violence.

I told an officer that if they wanted to do a little police brutality, it would be OK by me. He started laughing.

The police pulled out what looked like fire extinguishers and hosed down the crowd through the fence. I guess it was pepper spray but I never got a whiff of it and it didn't drop any of the protestor chimps. It did stop their violence, though.
