The motorcade slows to a crawl on 15th Street in front of the Treasury building. It would turn left at the end of Treasury back onto Pennsylvania Avenue for the last few blocks in front of the White House. That's the only place safe enough for Bush to disembark from his armored car and walk the route.

Back in another day, newly elected President Jimmy Carter walked the entire route of the parade but that was before deranged Muslim religious fanatics were trying to murder us all in big bloody batches. I don't like the heavy security that closes off the view of the president and I despise the threat that makes it necessary.
